Tell us a little about yourself

I studied at CPUT, back when it was still called Cape Technikon, studying towards an FIS diploma which I eventually switched to an IT diploma. During my last year I started a part-time job at a software house called Camara Consulting. Initially helping out with receptionist duties and moving on to some programming work. After I completed my studies I was taken on fulltime and am currently working there as a software developer. I also love food, all aspects of it from cooking and eating to history. Some of this is evident in my slumbering blog Wots For Lunch?

When and how did your passion for technology begin?

Growing up, I don’t remember a time when we didn’t have a computer of some kind hanging around in the house. My first experience with a computer was probably with our ZX Spectrum, I have vivid memories of impatiently waiting for games to load (from cassette tape!) at a very young age.

What advice do you have for young girls who are interested in technology and want to explore a career in this industry?

Keep an open mind and never stop learning. You never know where your interests may take you and who or what you might learn something new from. This industry may seem male dominated but there is definitely space for geeky girls like us to find our place.
